“Public Service Recognition Week acknowledges the hard work our state employees do each day to serve the 7 million people living in the great state of Washington,” Inslee said. “Those who are called to public service deserve our gratitude and respect for their outstanding efforts.”

Employees will have an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of their peers, receive information about new benefits and programs, and learn about charities supported by state employees. Last year, more than 1,500 employees attended the Olympia event.

Employees and their families also are invited to attend Washington State Employees Annual Mariners Day on Saturday, May 6. Discounted tickets are available for the 6:10 p.m. game through Friday, May 5. Additionally, on May 12, July 22 and Aug. 11, a portion of the proceeds from Tacoma Rainiers game tickets will be donated to the state’s Combined Fund Drive, a giving program for public employees.

A key goal of Inslee’s Results Washington initiative is to improve Washington’s standing as an employer of choice, including fostering a culture of respect, feedback and recognition.
