Request a ceremonial letter – condolence, congratulations or commendation

On January 15, 2025, a new governor will take office. Ceremonial requests and requests for Governor Inslee to attend meetings and events after January 15 will be denied. Once the governor-elect is sworn in on January 15, you can once again submit meeting and ceremonial requests but may experience a change in how requests are processed. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility during this transition. If you have questions, please contact us at (360) 902-4111.

A commendation or congratulatory letter is issued in recognition of a significant accomplishment or accolade of a Washington State Resident. If our office requires additional information to complete your request we will reach out to you with the information provided below.

Your draft language should be submitted as if it was written from the Governor's perspective. Staff will review your draft for tone, voice, and content.

Please note that we require at least 30 days of notice in order to accommodate your request. If you request to have your letter completed within the 30 day window, your request will likely be declined.
