Medical Commission, Washington

Regulates the competency and quality of medical professionals licensed to practice medicine and surgery by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline.

Member Requirements: Thirteen members licensed to practice medicine in the state; two members licensed as physician assistants; and four members of the general public. Each congressional district in the state must have at least one physician member. If a physician, they must be licensed to practice in the state for at least five years. Public members may not be a member of any other health care licensing board or have fiduciary obligation to a facility rendering health services regulated by the commission, or have financial interest in the rendering of such services.
