Marine Resources Advisory Council

Responsible for maintaining a sustainable coordinated focus on ocean acidification; advising and working with the Washington Ocean Acidification Center on the effects and sources of ocean acidification; delivering recommendations to the Governor and Legislature on ocean acidification; seeking public and private funding resources to support the Council's recommendations; and assisting in conducting public education activities regarding ocean acidification.

Member Requirements: (1) The governor or the governor's designee;

(2) The director or commissioner, or the director's or commissioner's designee, of the following agencies:

(A) The department of ecology;

(B) The department of natural resources;

(C) The department of fish and wildlife;

(D) The state parks and recreation commission;

(E) The department of commerce; and

(F) Washington sea grant;

(3) The following members of the Washington coastal marine advisory council established by the department of ecology and as existing on January 15, 2013:

(A) One citizen from a coastal community;

(B) Two persons representing coastal commercial fishing;

(C) One representative from a coastal conservation group;

(D) One representative from a coastal economic development group;

(E) One representative from an educational institution;

(F) Two representatives from energy industries or organizations, one of which must be from the
coast;

(G) One person representing coastal recreation;

(H) One person representing coastal recreational fishing;

(I) One person representing coastal shellfish aquaculture;

(J) One representative from the coastal shipping industry;

(K) One representative from a science organization;

(L) One representative from the coastal Washington sustainable salmon partnership;

(M) One representative from a coastal port; and

(N) One representative from each outer coast marine resources committee, to be selected by the marine resources committee.

Sec. 2 expires June 30, 2032.

Massage Examining Board

Examines candidates for licensure and registration, and recommends and adopts rules and regulations for administering the regulatory law. The Board also evaluates, approves, and designates those schools, programs, and apprenticeship programs including all current and proposed curriculum, faculty, and health, sanitation, and facility standards from which graduation will be accepted as proof of an applicant's eligibility to take the licensing examination.

Statutory Term LimitsNo member may serve more than two successive full terms.
Member Requirements: Five members shall be massage therapists licensed under this chapter with at least three years' experience in the practice of massage immediately preceding their appointment and shall at all times during their terms remain licensed massage therapists. One member shall be a consumer whose occupation does not include the administration of health activities or the provision of health services and who has no material financial interest in the provision of health care services. One member shall be a massage educator or massage school owner with at least three years' experience in the teaching or administration of direct student learning of the practice of massage. The educator or school owner is not required to be a licensed massage therapist. The member shall recuse themselves from any board deliberations or decision making involving the school or educational program with which the member is professionally affiliated.

No member may serve more than two successive full terms.

Medical Commission, Washington

Regulates the competency and quality of medical professionals licensed to practice medicine and surgery by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms and discipline.

Member Requirements: Thirteen members licensed to practice medicine in the state; two members licensed as physician assistants; and four members of the general public. Each congressional district in the state must have at least one physician member. If a physician, they must be licensed to practice in the state for at least five years. Public members may not be a member of any other health care licensing board or have fiduciary obligation to a facility rendering health services regulated by the commission, or have financial interest in the rendering of such services.
