"As a mayor, Paul Schell was a visionary and intellectual who wasn't afraid to think big, and who led Seattle through a time of transition. Even after leaving office he never stopped caring about supporting his community, particularly the arts. He was accustomed to looking for new approaches to old problems. He will be missed by many, but the legacy of his leadership remains strong."
