Governor Inslee announces appointment of Derek Vanderwood to Clark County Superior Court

Gov. Jay Inslee announced today that he is appointing Derek Vanderwood to Clark County Superior Court. Vanderwood is replacing Judge John Nichols who is retiring after 18 years of service.

Vanderwood is currently a partner at English, Lane, Marshall & Vanderwood where he focuses on injury claims, civil litigation and commercial leases. He has worked in private practice since 1994 after completing his law degree at the University of Washington. His trial and civil litigation experience spans both Oregon and Washington as well as federal district court.

“Derek has a long-standing reputation in Clark County for being a smart and committed lawyer,” Inslee said. “I know he’s ready to take on this role and serve the people in a new capacity.”

Vanderwood will begin his term next month.
