Gov. Jay Inslee today announced the appointment of Michelle Adams to the Kitsap County Superior Court. She is replacing Judge Leila Mills, who is retiring on May 31.
Adams has served as court commissioner for the Kitsap County Superior Court since 2016. She has also served as judge pro tem for Port Orchard Municipal Court and Gig Harbor Municipal Court, and as judge pro tem for Kitsap County Superior Court.
Before becoming court commissioner, Adams was the sole practitioner at the Law Office of Michelle Adams, PLLC where she specialized in family law and worked on sexual assault cases as well as felony and drug charges. She also served as an attorney at the Law Office of Crawford, McGilliard, Peterson, Yelish and Dixon in Port Orchard.
"Michelle’s community involvement and 22 years of legal experience throughout Kitsap County have earned her the respect of those who appear in her courtroom. She will make an excellent addition to the bench,” Inslee said.
Adams’ community involvement includes volunteer work with Kitsap County Youth Court and Boy Scouts of America.
Adams received her law degree from Seattle University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Puget Sound.
Her appointment is effective June 2018.
