Gov. Jay Inslee today appointed Monty Cobb to the Mason County Superior Court. Cobb formerly spent seven years in the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office beginning as a deputy prosecutor and advancing to chief deputy prosecutor. He has also served as a prosecutor in Cowlitz and Whitman Counties. His work as a prosecutor included criminal, civil and appellate representation. Currently, Cobb is the deputy director and general counsel for the Washington Association of County Officials.
“Monty brings a unique dedication to public service and experience in the local court system,” Inslee said. “His background working with local elected officials and as a rural county prosecutor is the right balance to serve the people of Mason County.”
Cobb received his Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law and graduated from Western Washington University with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He previously worked at the Attorney General’s Office in the Tri-Cities and in private practice in Eastern Washington.
Cobb replaces Judge Toni Sheldon, who is retiring. Cobb's appointment will be effective in April.
