Inslee issues guidance for Department of Licensing operations impacted by COVID-19

Gov. Jay Inslee announced additional guidance today related to the "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" proclamation to slow the spread of COVID-19.

In recognition of disruption caused by COVID-19, the proclamations extend the renewal date of personal and commercial driver's licenses and suspend the requirement to hold a DUI hearing within 30 days.

  • Personal and Commercial License Extensions - Extends the renewal date of personal and commercial driver's licenses. The proclamation expires May 3, 2020.

  • DUI Hearings – Suspends the requirement to hold a DUI hearing within 30 days when a driver contests a license suspension following a DUI arrest, ensuring that DUI suspensions will not be dismissed due to operational challenges during the COVID-19 crisis. It also allows a driver additional time to enter into a deferred prosecution program available through a court process, which is limited due to court closures during the COVID-19 crisis.
