Gov. Jay Inslee today announced Miguel Pérez-Gibson will be his new Director of Legislative Affairs.
Pérez-Gibson has more than 20 years of legislative and policy experience that includes senior level agency and legislative work. He currently owns his own firm working on contract for multiple organizations and communities. He’s worked with legislators, tribes and advocacy groups on issues ranging from natural resources and energy to labor and commerce.
“We have ambitious goals for Washington state, from bolstering education funding to creating jobs,” Inslee said. “Miguel has experience working successfully with legislators on both sides of the aisle and will play an instrumental role in helping me achieve our goals and move Washington forward.”
Pérez-Gibson was a Deputy Supervisor of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources for three years before working four years as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Washington State House of Representatives Democratic Caucus.
The Director of Legislative Affairs is an executive team position in the governor’s office. Pérez-Gibson will begin August 4.
